Chromebook Pixel Video Wall
March 4, 2013
Obscura hosted the launch event for Google’s Chromebook Pixel laptop. A video wall was constructed consisting of 25 Pixel laptops running a very high res video across all the screens. I was responsible for creating the playback system to synchronize the video clips across the machines. We used a cheap netbook running node.js on Ubuntu as the server and wrote an html5 video full screen player to receive synchronization commands via node.js. Here’s a few videos of the wall in action:
I also went ahead and created a quick test of an interactive version using the pixel’s touch screen to cause pixel ripples across the display.
